Sharing an indicator

If you’re looking to:

  • Show the users in your organisation a particular indicator on the map (see here for who you can share this with)
  • Direct visitors of your public site to a given data set overlaid on the map (see here for more information on Local Insight public sites)

You can do so by sharing the URL. Simply follow these steps:

Sharing a link to a particular indicator

  1. Navigate to the Map page by clicking on the left hand menu item
  2. Click on the Data button to open up the list of indicators
  3. Select the indicator you'd like to load onto the map
  4. Copy and paste the URL that now appears in the address bar - it will look something like this: local.communityinsight.org/map/?indicator=imd15_score

Sharing a link to a custom area overlaid with a particular indicator

  1. Hover over the Group Admin tab and select the Manage custom areas option from the drop down
  2. Click on the More Options button to the right of the custom area you'd like to display
  3. Click on the View on map option. This will navigate you to the map page where you can view the custom area
  4. Now to overlay an indicator onto that custom area, click on the Data button
  5. Select the indicator you'd like to load onto the map
  6. Copy and paste the URL that now appears in the address bar - it will look something like this: local.communityinsight.org/map/custom_areas=32590&indicator=anti_social_behaviour_police_uk_dr_20170601#

Once you have shared the link with your colleagues, (or publicly if you have a public site), they will either be taken straight to the map with the overlaid indicator, or will be prompted to login.

Please note: If they are prompted to login, they may have to reclick the link or paste the link into the URL.
